The rhythms of the Jewish year imbue our schools with an energy that becomes a part of us.

When it comes to understanding Judaism's big ideas, hands-on rituals, and the emergent classroom investigations that flow from them, there is much to learn for novice and veteran educators alike. How do we welcome and embrace the holidays without putting the curriculum on hold?

Our belief that children are created in God’s image compels us to hone pedagogical skills that are worthy of them--and of our own divine potential as educators.
Mark your calendar for these six sessions as together we follow the cycle of  Jewish holidays, exploring the underlying messages and values and learning how to weave them into your classroom curriculum.  Each session will focus on the upcoming Jewish holiday/s and offer inspiring stories from our colleagues in the field.

Details: All sessions are 75 minutes long and are held on Thursday evenings at 7:30 ET/ 6:30pm CT/ 5:30pm MT/ 4:30pm PT

Meet the Facilitators
Veronica Maravankin is an early childhood consultant who is proficient in catalyzing systemic change through strategic planning, redesigning teaching and learning to reflect 21st century skills development, fiscal responsibility, professional development and supervision, values-based education, and lay leader and donor relations. She served as the Early Childhood Director of the Barbara & Jack Kay Early Childhood Learning Center at the Mandel Jewish Community Center of the Palm Beaches for 12 years. Veronica holds a Master’s degree in Education, with focus in human development and psychology, from Harvard Graduate School of Education. For thirteen years Veronica has been an active member of the JCC Association’s Early Childhood Department, a Sheva faculty member, and was one of the original creators of the Sheva Early Learning Framework.

​Judi Morosohk is the Pedagogical Director of The Efshar Project in Colorado. She holds an MA in Educational Psychology with Early Childhood/Special Education certification from the University of Colorado at Denver and a BS in Elementary/Special Education from the University of Delaware. Judi has worked in the ECE field for 40+ years, as a teacher, director, consultant, coach and trainer. She began her career as a therapeutic preschool teacher and from 1989-2002, worked at the Boulder JCC Preschool, as a teacher and for 10 years, as director. She went on to become the 1st Professional Development Manager of Boulder County’s Early Childhood Council. Judi has been in her present position since 2008, supporting Jewish ECE educators in the Denver/Boulder area in their thinking around teaching and learning and supporting centers in seamlessly weaving Jewish values into everything they do. She is also a member of the JCCA Sheva faculty, coaching, training, and mentoring educators and leaders in JCC’s across North America.

If your proposal is selected, session facilitators will meet with you for a coaching session as you develop your presentation. Storytellers will receive an honorarium of $250.
